Company Profile

Lori Wright Home Improvements was created as a way to share our passion for beautiful yet functional spaces with everyone! We have a tremendous love of DIY home projects but at the same time understand that sometimes certain projects are better left to those who do it every day. We also recognise that there are small projects that so many people just dont know how to start, or prefer that someone else do.

That's where we step in, no matter the size or complexity of the project or your own interest in participating, we can take care of it for you. For smaller 'Handywoman' projects like hanging shelves or pictures, patching holes in drywall, replacing a backplash or changing out a vanity, I will come out and do the work myself. AND, if you'd like to learn how to do it, I will teach you in your own home while WE get your project done!

For larger renovation projects, we have several designers and a team of great contractors to see your project from planning right through to sucessful completion. We have extensive experience with kitchens, bathrooms, tile projects, built-ins, lighting and anything else interior!

Visit us at www.lwhome.ca or email LWhome@bell.net and we will make your project come to life!

Tiny Bathroom Morphs into Spacious Spa Like Retreat

This project was a real pleasure to work on.  We took what was a TINY ensuite and too small closet, moved the wall almost 4' out and now there's room for two in both rooms!

This was before...
5' x 5' room with a 30" vanity to share.

36" x 36" closet shower with a 20" door.

Not enough storage and a lot of unused floor space in the bedroom.
In Progress...
The wall was moved about 4' into the bedroom.

The blue wall was the original size and the studs to the left are new.

The bulkhead in the shower was removed and the doorway opened to the full 36".
And The Finished Bathroom... Almost, still needs accessories :)
A 60" vanity with double sinks.

A 36" shower door that opens the right way (towards the window).

The shower is simple yet elegant, the stone is exquisite and removing the bulkhead makes it so much more spacious.

You can really see the detail here, including the corner ledge for easy leg shaving!

Shower Stall Re-do

It's been a while since I posted last, its been a little busy!  This Shower stall was done around Christmas time, the original fibreglass base was incorrectly installed and was leaking into the wall behind.  We took it apart, got rid of the base since the drain location was done incorrectly underneath and retiled it so that it won't leak again... You wouldn't know it wasn't this way the whole time, a shame it wasn't done right to begin with!
The old base partially ripped-out.

New base done with the Kerdi waterproofing system, every shower should be done this way!

The new finished product, the way it should have been done the first time!

Bathroom Transformation...

I've just completed this transformation for a wonderful client in Brampton.  The bathroom was original to the house, check out the matching yellow fixtures, dated vanity, wallpaper to disguise the unevenness of the walls and carpet eeeeeewwwww! We gutted this to the studs, took out the wall between the toilet and the tub, and fixed up the insulation and vapour barrier and then put it back together better than ever.

And Voila, a well deserved Oasis! We added an exhaust fan and shower light, the simple vanity pieces were dressed up with a gorgeous custom granite counter and the recessed medicine cabinet provides ample storage and functionality while being so pretty! The result is a bright and relaxing space with timeless quality finishes that will endure for years to come.  It was such a pleasure to transform this bathroom for such a lovely lady.

"I truly appreciate the time, effort and attention to detail you put into making my reno a stress free experience. Can't wait to have you back for the powder and family room. Hopefully in the spring!!!!" Linda

An Outdoor Project...

Once the inside jobs were done, it was time for a hot tub!  Working with Ambient Stone we created a beautiful backyard retreat for their new hot tub.  This included the new walkway and patio, concrete pad for the tub, replaced electrical panel and the wiring to the tub.  What a nice way to unwind at the end of the day!

Latest Jobs...

Its been a busy fall so far!  I had a nice project for a couple that moved into a 25 year old house and needed some "honey-do" jobs done.  New exhaust fans in the bathrooms, a back door replaced, security cameras wired up, and a handful of other small jobs.  They also needed some kitchen cabinetry adjusted to accommodate their new fridge and range hood.
The cabinet over the fridge was rebuilt with shorter doors for the new fridge and a water line was run.
You can't tell they aren't the original doors!

The new range hood is exhausted out the roof and a matching box was created to conceal the vent pipe above the original cabinetry.

A little something different...

With the cold weather fast approaching and threat of leaving my truck outside for the winter, I embarked on a shed building project... It's a little outside my everyday work, but it has been really fun to build.  It does need paint and a few more finishing touches, but this is what we've done!

The finished Kitchen!

This was a quick project, taking exactly 1 month start to finish, and the result is breathtaking!  Here's a look-back at where we started...

The previous kitchen was small and segregated with a separate dining room and a dysfunctional work triangle. The flooring was old tile that was cracked in several places, the exhaust fan was not vented outside, and the electrical was outdated.

Fast forward 1 month and look at the transformation...  A spacious modern area with a fabulous island, lots of storage and classic finishes!  The existing strip hardwood was continued into the kitchen area and refinished to look like new. The granite counter is antique brown and contrasts the white cabinetry beautifully, another wonderful installation by Toronto Granite.  And to pull it all together, my favourite part, a Silver Carrera random splash that pulls all of the colours together and creates a real focal point with the range hood! Its hard to even believe that this is the same space!
